FRIENDS & RELATIVES

Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, “What!  You too? I thought I was the only one.” -C.S. Lewis

Where would we be without our friends and relatives?  Yes, i love life, but i love life because i am surrounded by happiness, kindness, and ease thanks to my friends.  Let me introduce you to some of the best…

MOLLY MAGUIRE

At home on our bean bag.

I don’t know where to start when it comes to Molly. She is my big sister, and my number one partner in crime.  Molly had a rougher start to life than me, but thanks to the amazing people at Twenty Paws Rescue, she found her way to Jim and Sue (our parents). If you can, go to the rescue website and make a donation, they are truly wonderful!

Molly looks out for me, and cuddles with me, and always has my back.  Truth be told, i’m kind of afraid of the dark, but Molly has no fear.  She is six years old and has had two knee surgeries, but none of that slows her down.  I really do love this girl. She’s imperfect too.

BENTLEY P

Bentley and I became friends the moment we saw each other. We are an unlikely pair for sure. Bentley is a two-year old golden doodle, and he is the size of my head, but we

Go get em’ Bents!

love to chase each other in circles and cause all sorts of mayhem.  Take a close look at his picture, and you will see why we are another perfect pair….we both love the snow!!!!  Our families spend A LOT of time together, in fact, sometimes the two of us roll our eyes at their silly human antics.  Bentley is moving to Colorado soon, and i will be sad to see him go, but i am excited for his new adventures.  Life is too short to keep our imperfections to ourselves. Have fun friend!

SHEEVA Every country home needs a cat to keep the mouse and critter population in check. Enter my favorite feline.  If any of you live in a mixed house with cats and dogs, then you may know as well as Molly and I do that the cat rules.  This girl is tiny, but she is fierce.  Sheeva first came to live with Jim and Sue via Aunt Evelyn who found her as a stray and then re-homed her at their little cabin in the woods.  Although this kitty is a certified mouse trap, she also has a gentle side and loves to give us baths if we are looking a bit stank.  Who said cats and dogs can’t get a long?  We are all just varying degrees of imperfection, and that works for me!

MOM

My mom is my spirit animal—or i am her spirit animal—anyway, you get the idea.  My mom’s name is Sue, and she is an English teacher at a nearby high school.  She is also an outdoors enthusiast.  We are a perfect pair.

My dad is Jim, he’s a teacher too, and he likes to be outside as much mom.  I guess that’s why they get along!  Mom has always wanted to write a story, but never felt like she had the right character’s voice.  Dad always wanted a BIG dog, and when i needed a home, all the pieces seemed to fall into place.  The more time we all spent together, the clearer it became that i was the voice mom had been looking for.

AMANDA

This is my girl! As much as i love to travel with the fam, there are times when i just need a quiet weekend at home.  These moments are when Amanda steps in.  She is my dog-sitter, and she loooooooooooooooooves me.

When Amanda comes over we hang out on the porch and read books or study lines…she does plays…or we go for a walk.  Amanda has a questionable sense of direction, so we don’t always end up on the trail mapped out for us, but that is just part of the imperfect adventure!

BARB

This is Barb, and she’s my buddy.  She is actually related to Bentley B, so whenever i get to see one of them, i usually get to see both.  My favorite Barb-time activity is covering her face in kisses…as you can see.  There is a chance Barb encourages me in all the wrong ways, but i don’t mind because it means i get to climb on the sofa or sit in the chairs when she’s around.  As luck would have it, Barb is a snow GODDESS and loves to share her moments with me.

Introducing Dixie

Now, I don’t want to tell you too much about this girl I met because someday there will be more of a story to share. For the moment, however, let me introduce you all to Dixie P. Dixie just moved to New Jersey and she is pretty scared. We bark fast here and we are always in a hurry, do being the new dog in town can be ruff! Moving is always a fright, but Dixie also had a rough past that she is trying to overcome. Barb…you know Barb…she’s my friend, is Dixie’s new mom, and that is not an easy job, but Barb can do it! Dixie needs time to settle in and I cannot wait to share her full story with you soon. For now though, I am just going to be her friend and lay by her side until she is ready to get out there and take on the world. Go Dixie!

Welcome home Dixie!
